Sonia’s Interview

sonia

What made you want to become an intern at the Ocean Institute?

One of the main reasons that I wanted to come to the Ocean Institute was because I am looking towards maybe majoring in a scientific field, and also I thought it would be a fun and great experience to do over the summer.

How will this internship help you in the future?

First of all, it’s really great in a resume. You know that you have set yourself to working up to certain achievements, and it’s just helpful to have something that you know how to do.

What do you have to do in your internship?

Currently, I’m working with the volunteer program. I'm listing certain animals of the week and also making a site map.

What has been the most challenging part about your internship?

Probably doing the site map because the buildings have to correspond with each other and look similar to what it actually looks like in real life so it’s easy and understandable for visitors to look at and know where they are.

What is one of your biggest accomplishments?

Getting at least the first two drafts done of the site map.

Would you like to be an intern next year? If yes, why?

Probably yes, because I really like the people who are interning, everyone is really fun and nice, and it just offers something for you to do and learn about.

Would you recommend this internship to any younger interns?

Definetly. It’s a good work and life experience, it teaches you about what actually a job might be and certain fields. It just basically helps you, and in a way, it rounds you out to become a better person in the workforce or even in personal or in general or at school.
