Describe your current job

I am currently one of four veterinarians at SeaWorld in San Diego, California. I direct a program in pathology—the study of disease. I work with the veterinary team to ensure that the animals at SeaWorld are as healthy as possible. Another big part of my job is evaluating beached marine mammals and birds that are cared for at SeaWorld. Each year, the SeaWorld team rehabilitates over 250 marine animals. My responsibility is to help screen these animals for diseases and toxins.

Do you have any funny stories about lab experiences or adventures in the field?

I have worked with doctors and researchers from all over the world. I have been involved in numerous research projects and have traveled as far as Peru and Antarctica working with wildlife.

What is the approximate salary range for your profession?

$50,000 - $120,000 / year
