About SeaTech

SeaTech Teen Club allows intrepid Boys & Girls Clubs members to explore ocean science and information technology (IT) careers as they venture into the field and onto the open ocean. During their involvement in SeaTech, members have an opportunity to participate in four years of science and IT-rich experiences at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley. In Ultimate Oceans, members in grades 5-7 dive into science, art, and technology classes as they explore different ocean organisms and habitats. Youth in 8-9 can join SeaTech Year 1. These members explore ocean science content and careers through club meetings and field trips. They communicate their experiences through Web pages that they design that include images, journals, and interviews. Members who continue onto SeaTech Year 2, build resumes; practice interviewing; and learn to use Triton, an acoustic analysis software, to apply for an internship with the Whale Acoustics Lab at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Finally, during SeaTech Year 3, an intern will continue to build their resume for college applications as they train to intern as a junior staff member at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Capistrano Valley or as an intern at Ocean Institute.
